Leveling System
Will you be the next ULTIMATE LEGEND?
In order to support long term play,
Scourge
of Time has a complex leveling system with many challenges (and
rewards) in order to keep advancing. The mortal levels are split
into 4 level ranges. To help with the early tiers, there are
experience bonuses that get smaller until they disappear altogether by
the end of the 4th tier. Generally you must pass a challenge three
times before you can move on to the next tier. This is to make
sure you are ready for the next tier and to break up the monotony of
leveling. Best of all, you will pick up new skills and spells
along the way. Finally, at level 401 you can keep leveling by
getting superhero levels.
In order to explain the level system. a timeline for a typical
character has been included below:
- New character levels up to 101 and enters rebirth.
After rebirth you return to level 10 and may choose one of the group1 spell groups. Groups that your class is
strong in will lower your experience to level (etl) whereas groups your
class isn't good at will raise your etl and won't be as effective.
- Level up to 101 again and rebirth a second time. Gain
one of the group2 spell groups.
- After 3rd rebirth, you randomly get a "rebirth
skill". When you get to 101 again, you can either rebirth a
4th time or use the "explock" command to move on to the second
tier. Most players move on to the next tier as rebirthing again
will raise your etl.
- At 201 you can reawaken to the first time and go back to
level 102. Now you may get a group3
spell group.
- After second reawaken you pick up something from group4.
- After third reawaken you get a random "rebirth
skill" (one you haven't received yet).
- Once you have done three reawakens and explock, you move on
to the third tier.
- At 301, enter renewal and once done gain something from group5.
- After second renewal get 8 powerful skills and spells from group6.
- After third renewal get your third "rebirth
skill" and level up to 301 again.
- Instead of explocking, you need to enter
"Advancement". Here you must solve puzzles and fight powerful
mobs. The good news is there are several mobs that have scrolls
that you may study and permanently learn that spell.
- Level up to 401 and then either remort or start gaining
superhero levels. There are 32000 superhero levels in all. Most
opt to remort at this point.
- Note: after each remort, you can six more groups (one extra
group1, one extra group2, etc.) than the previous remort. You can
remort as many times as you want but your etl will go up each
time. Most players remort between 3 and 6 times.
- Once you are done remorting and have completely your final
renewal, you may "cash in" (use your remaining trains to increase hp,
mana, and movement). Once you reach 401, you start gaining Legend
levels when you reach specific superhero levels. Hint: players
who do more than three remorts, usually get to at least legend 5 before
remorting as this makes it much easier.
Legend
Levels
There are 16 "legend" levels in all. These
give
a little boost to hit and dam rolls, as well as weapon and magic
resistance.
But the real benefit is that players fight as if higher than 401!
The experience is at a higher level too, but eventually that levels off
at legend
level 10 and leveling becomes easier (but much more levels are needed
to
get to the higher legend levels. At the final legend level,
players may gain any number of the special spell groups available
after rebirths, and can fight as if level 500. This means
fighting mobs that were
before impossible are now just a quick (ok, maybe not quick) workout!
